On 20th July 2023, Zeeve held a Twitter AMA session where Karthik MS, Social Media Manager of Zeeve, introduced Dr.Ravi Chamria, CEO and Co-Founder of Zeeve, to host the session on “Building Bridges: Exploring the Melding of DeFi and Traditional Banking,” which is centered around three blockchain themes: Metaverse, FinTech, and related industries.

The session began with warm greetings and an introduction to building bridges between traditional banking and the unique decentralized liquidity protocol called Meld. 

Dr. Ravi Chamria then introduced the esteemed speakers:  Pepe Blasco, the CTO of Meld, and  & Fotis Andronikos, the Decentralized infrastructure provider at Meld, to share their insights.

Pepe took the floor and provided an overview of Meld, emphasizing its goal of merging traditional finance with the crypto world by creating products across both domains. Meld aims to build its own blockchain and lending and borrowing protocol.

The platform is designed to enable users to seamlessly swap between fiat and crypto, facilitating transactions and eliminating the need to sell crypto assets.

Fotis then shared his experience as a node operator, emphasizing the significance of being a validator in the crypto space. He appreciated the opportunity provided by Zeeve Managed Services, which simplifies the node operating process and ensures robust network security.

Dr. Ravi then asked about Avalanche validators. Pepe explains the steps to become a validator, including acquiring Avalanche tokens, joining subnets, and the role of validators in network security.

 Pepe also adds that Meld is committed to having as many validators as possible, increasing decentralization and network stability.

Pepe further elaborated on the benefits of Meld’s lending and borrowing solutions. These solutions enable crypto millionaires to use their crypto holdings as collateral without selling them, offering tax advantages and preserving exposure to the assets’ potential value growth.

Pepe explains the roadmap for Meld, which includes exploring decentralized lending, cross-chain liquidity, non-custodial protocols, and liquid staking. He also emphasized Meld’s vision of becoming a robust financial company that bridges the gap between traditional finance and crypto.

The discussion then shifted to the impact of DeFi on traditional investing. Dr. Ravi then asked Pepe about the effect of Defi and his experience.

Pepe acknowledges the maturation of tokenized assets and the potential for staked assets to add significant value to the crypto industry.

Dr. Ravi and Pepe then discussed the future of DeFi, projected continuous growth, and a shift of assets from traditional finance to the crypto space. However, they identified tech adoption as a critical challenge, urging the development of user-friendly interfaces to attract mass adoption.

Pepe then started discussing the benefits of transparency and traceability in the banking sector, which blockchain technology brings. 

He mentions that  Blockchain addresses challenges in the traditional banking system, focusing on transparency, trust, and efficiency. With increasing adoption, the crypto market is projected to grow steadily in the coming years. However, the primary obstacle remains the widespread adoption of blockchain technology.

Dr.Ravi concludes the session by mentioning his focus on ensuring transparency and security for users by evolving blockchain identity concepts and improving interfaces.
