On theJun 7, 2023, Dr Ravi Chamria (CoFounder & CEO, Zeeve) conducted an insightful webinar on the topic “The Anatomy of a DAO – Understanding the inner workings of Decentralised Organisations”.
He started by giving the overview of what’s going to be in the webinar. Some of them includes:
- advantages and disadvantages of different types of DAOs
- the existing regulatory landscape
- challenges and opportunities to make DAOs a more central piece to the organizational structure.
Dr.Ravi introduced the webinar discussing the concept of DAOs or decentralized autonomous organizations, which are based on the tenet of decentralization in blockchain technology.
He continued explaining the benefits of decentralization enabled by blockchain technology:
- Decentralization improves governance, transparency, and efficiency while reducing the challenges of power, corruption, fraud, and lack of transparency that are common in centralized systems.
Dr.Ravi discussed how blockchain technology ensures ownership of assets without the need for a third party.
He also explained the concept of Ethereum, smart contracts and voting powers based on contributions.
In addition to it Dr.Ravi discussed the three major components of a DAO:
- utilizing smart contracts to automate processes
- being community-driven with decision-making power based on community voting, and
- having a flattened hierarchy where anyone can join the network.
He shared his insights on how DAOs work and the benefits of using them, such as
- incentivization
- trust
He also mentioned various DAO platforms like:
- Uniswap and Aragon that can be used as a foundation, and
- how the decision-making process is done through token holders and smart contracts.
He continued his discussion on the importance of councils and the various types of voting systems used in DAOs.
Dr.Ravi explained clearly the governance aspects of a DAO, where voting for proposals is done by a council or a treasury committee, and certain voting thresholds must be met for grant proposals of varying amounts.
In this webinar he also covered:
- the legal structures of different organizations, such as corporations, LLCs, foundations, and associations.
- The pros and cons of each structure highlighting the challenges faced due to centralized decision making and power concentration.
He concluded the webinar by discussing how with a Zapper.fi platform, users can benefit from a managed cloud without giving up control over their infrastructure. And opened the floor for questions and further discussions.
