DCB Bank
A Leader in Private Sector Banking
DCB Bank Ltd. is a renowned private sector scheduled commercial bank regulated by the RBI. With over 460 branches and 500 ATMs across India, the bank serves a wide range of segments — including retail banking, micro and small enterprises (SMEs), mid-corporates, agriculture, government entities, public sector organizations, cooperative banks, and NBFCs.

In 2021, a new RBI circular mandated that all ATMs must adopt digital OTC (One-Time Combination) locks for cash replenishment to improve security and reduce fraud risks. DCB Bank began exploring advanced solutions for digitizing and securing its ATM lock management system. Blockchain emerged as the best fit — offering tamper-proof audit trails, transparency among stakeholders, and real-time trust in OTC management.

To implement this blockchain-powered OTC solution, DCB Bank turned to Zeeve for designing and deploying a scalable, enterprise-grade Hyperledger Fabric infrastructure.

— Omar Azhar, VP, Head of Business Development at Matter Labs
The Challenge:
Building a Secure and Scalable Hyperledger Fabric Network
DCB Bank needed a Hyperledger Fabric architecture that not only ensured ATM lock security but also optimized operational costs and offered long-term maintainability. The challenges presented to Zeeve included:

Optimized and Cost-Efficient Deployment

The bank wanted a scalable, cost-effective Fabric setup that could be deployed without building a dedicated in-house DevOps team. The challenge was to design a lean yet enterprise-grade infrastructure capable of delivering both security and performance.

Enterprise-Grade Performance & Availability

ATM cash replenishment is a mission-critical process that cannot afford downtime. DCB Bank needed a Fabric network with high availability, strong fault tolerance, and robust security to manage OTC lock systems seamlessly across 460+ branches.

On-Premises, Cloud-Agnostic Architecture

The solution had to be on-premises to ensure full control and data integrity while maintaining the flexibility to scale or integrate with hybrid cloud environments as needed.

24/7 Monitoring and Enterprise Support

Given the sensitivity of ATM operations, the bank required proactive monitoring, automated performance tracking, and 24/7 expert support to ensure smooth network operations and reduced overhead costs.
CodeNekt aimed to solve these problems not just with better UI but with a dedicated Avalanche L1 blockchain network that could serve as the digital backbone for vehicle identity and interaction.
The Solution:

A Hyperledger Fabric Network Tailored for ATM Lock Management
Zeeve delivered an end-to-end Hyperledger Fabric 2.X infrastructure for DCB Bank — optimized for ATM and OTC lifecycle management. This included designing a resilient network architecture, deploying nodes, and automating DevOps to minimize operational overhead.
“Vertical chains like CodeNekt can’t afford even a moment of uncertainty. They run real-world systems with real consequences. We engineered every part of their L1 to deliver enterprise-grade uptime, data integrity, and observability at scale.”
- Dr. Ravi Chamria, Co-founder & CEO of Zeeve.
Here’s what Zeeve implemented

Custom Fabric Deployment Architecture

Designed and deployed a robust on-premises Hyperledger Fabric 2.X LTS network with Docker-based clustering for improved scalability and cost efficiency.

ATM & OTC Chaincode Implementation

Integrated custom chaincodes following the asset state model to manage the complete ATM and OTC lifecycle on the blockchain network.

On-Premises Infrastructure Setup

Built and configured a local environment with full Fabric node deployment, ensuring data sovereignty and adherence to RBI guidelines.

DevOps Automation with GIT & Docker

Integrated CI/CD pipelines with GIT and Docker to enable rapid testing, chaincode updates, and seamless deployment cycles.

Security and High Availability

The infrastructure was architected for enterprise-grade uptime, with secure access policies and failover mechanisms.

  • Only users owning a Memento Soulbound NFT can make a deposit.
  • Superusers can perform unrestricted L1→L2 operations. Superusers are privileged roles (protocol admins or authorized institutional actors) who have elevated permissions.

This infrastructure enabled Memento to do private transactions, permissioned onboarding, default interoperability, and a compliance-first architecture trusted by Deutsche Bank, recognized by MAS, and designed for scale.
Through this partnership, CodeNekt was able to build not just a blockchain network but a reliable, transparent, and high-performance digital infrastructure for vehicle data that’s already powering integrations across 17 countries.
The Value Addition by Zeeve
Zeeve’s expertise with Hyperledger Fabric and DevOps automation ensured DCB Bank could go live quickly and securely while saving significant costs.
“After months and months of development, having a partner like Zeeve is a relief. We completely outsourced the launch and hosting of our Layer 1. Zeeve brought our product to life in just a few moments. “
— Francis Hachem, CEO, CodeNekt
Here are the value additions by Zeeve:

Faster Time-to-Market

Zeeve’s pre-built Fabric modules and automation reduced deployment timelines by 85%, allowing DCB Bank to meet RBI’s compliance deadlines ahead of schedule.

Cost Optimization

By deploying optimized Fabric nodes and leveraging automation, Zeeve helped the bank cut infrastructure costs by ~55% compared to building in-house.

Proactive Monitoring and Analytics

The Zeeve dashboard enabled real-time monitoring of Fabric nodes, providing advanced analytics and proactive alerts to avoid downtime.

24/7 Expert Support

Zeeve’s blockchain engineers and DevOps specialists provided continuous support — from initial architecture to ongoing network operations.

Scalable & Cloud-Agnostic Setup

The deployment was designed to scale across on-premises or hybrid environments, ensuring flexibility for future expansion.
The Result:

A Zeeve-Powered Fabric Network Now Securing ATM Operations Across 460+ Branches
The impact of Zeeve’s deployment for DCB Bank goes far beyond cost savings or deployment speed. It established a trustless, auditable ATM lock management platform that sets a new standard for how banks can meet compliance requirements with cutting-edge tech — without adding operational complexity.
“Zeeve’s web3 infrastructure automation platform helped the DCB Bank team solve all the challenges about the enterprise Fabric deployment. Hiring an expert DevOps resource with knowledge of Blockchain is a nightmare. Zeeve Platform helped us in a perfect way to overcome this big issue. It was completely seamless with experts like Zeeve.”
— Prasanna Lohar, Digital Head, DCB Bank
DCB Bank’s blockchain-based OTC lock system now ensures that every step in the cash replenishment process is transparent, tamper-proof, and fully traceable across multiple branches and stakeholders. By leveraging Hyperledger Fabric, DCB Bank created a secure and efficient system that eliminates manual reconciliations and reduces the risk of fraud.

The results are tangible. They launched the complete Fabric network within hours, drastically reducing project go-live time. Optimized Fabric node management helped cut both CAPEX and OPEX. Advanced analytics and Zeeve’s real-time dashboard enable the bank’s teams to monitor nodes and network health effortlessly. With continuous SLA-backed support and automation, the Fabric network now operates with minimal downtime.

This move arrives at a time when banks are rapidly modernizing legacy processes, and DCB Bank’s blockchain-powered OTC lock platform is a benchmark for other Indian banks looking to combine compliance with tech-driven efficiency.
