Key Features of Energy Web Chain
Shared
infrastructure
EW Chain is based on a shared web3 infrastructure that brings together worldwide energy grid operators, consumers, and physical assets on a unified platform, simplifying the data exchange process. Additionally, EW Chain includes middleware technologies like Oracles into its architecture to provide real-world data to the EW’s existing solutions and bridges.
Unique
EW-DOS
As the underlying foundation of the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System, Energy Web Chain carries out three main functions to support EW-DOS; it provides smart contracts for the development of EW-DOS’s dApps, supports on-chain verification/transaction between involved parties, provides smart contracts that store decentralized identities (DIDS).
Validator
Incentive
The EW Blockchain relies on authorized validators to keep the network in sync and maintain unparalleled security across the ecosystem. Since the EW Chain is powered by the PoA mechanism, it compensates honest validators with Energy Web Tokens (EWT) upon every block successfully validated and added to the chain.
PoA Consensus
Mechanism
EW Chain adopts proof-of-authority consensus to maintain the network’s governance and validate on-chain transactions. It allows for a specific number of nodes to act as validators, who must fulfill criteria such as being a registered web3 institution or authorized members of the Energy Web Foundation. Those who meet these criteria can run their validator node and become EW Chain validators.
